I've been loaned a collection of glass slides* to restore and digitize. They were found by a family friend as a young man in Scranton, PA within the rubble of a dilapidated warehouse. We assume they were the property of a local Ukrainian newspaper but otherwise their origin remains a mystery. Here I will be recording the process of lightly conserving these slides and their digitization.
I am an artist based out of Washington, DC. You can learn more about me and my artwork by visiting my website at www.katherineakey.com
*note as of 7/26/17: After looking through the collection more deeply, and after the thoughtful advice of a stranger, we've determined that the vast majority of the images here are positive slides, likely for lantern slide projection or possibly for making paper negatives.
